Hey guys, its been a rough winter for this Texas boy but I made it through another one. McEtrac and I got out yesterday for a while to a spot a guy that works for me told me about. He told me that he had found some older coins and bottles so I figured what the heck lets go. We got there and surveyed the area and then started hunting. It was slim pickins. Neither of us found squat but an old milk bottle. A guy showed up and started talking to us. We found out that this was an old dump and that he knew of a bottle dump about a mile from where we were at. We took off and went over there. It would have made Treasurefiend drool. There were litterly thousands of bottles laying on the ground and half buried in the frozen tundra. Most were broke in some way but we pulled out a few that were interesting. Goio called and we decided to meet at the woods for a while.

McEtrac and I got there and started hunting. We hunted about an hour and neither of us was finding much. I went across the road and hit that area. After finding some clad, I got a wheatie (1910) and then finally got my first silver of the year, a 41 merc. Greg ended up not making it and we decided to pack it up and head home.

I was gonna take some pics but my camera finally gave up the ghost. Hope everyone has a great Sunday. SMAN...

I hope you're right and we're through the worst part of winter. :-\ Keep your fingers crossed!

Glad you got out. Congrats on the Merc!  One of my most favorite coins to find.

I'm still looking for my first silver for the year.

Go get 'em brother!

Congrats on the Merc and Wheatie! Yesterday was a bit chilly but I managed to squeeze out 3 wheats anyways.

Great job bud, I wanted to go hunting today but I had lunch with my family. Glad you got a silver and an ole Wheatie!!!! You know I have never found an in-tacked milk bottle.... I keep lookin but they always seem to be busted. :icon_scratch:

Hey Fiend, I feel your pain but the only milks and creamers you're likely to get are in the water or underground, that's where I've gotten mine. I think the thicker glass just made them more tempting targets for the BB gun patrols of yesteryear.

Among the most sought after bottles are the poisons, the triloids, figural skulls, embossed skull and crossbones, etc.. Found an entire case of triloids once, all broken. Almost cried. My brother, on one of his landscape jobs came across a dump full of them at a client's home. The client said take 'em and he did and he made a killing off them, monetarily.

For the most part such bottle as those are more likelyto be found inside buildings, outbuildings, barns and hidden away in old cellars. One more reson to seek out the older demos and look into those old hidey holes.
Finding that $1500+ bottle or several of them can definitely make your day.

Check out some of these:

Congrats on your first '09 silver and that wonderful bottle dump!

I guess we'll know where to find you ;D

Take care,

Thanks LB for the website, those bottles are beautiful. I would love to find one or 20. lol. TF, if you make it down this way I will take you there. There are plenty to choose from. I brought two home and one of them got broke in the truck during the ride. It was of course the bigger of the two.

That WAS fun SnowmanfromTexas..........All I found was a 1920 wheat,and $.47 Clad........The other wheat/IH I thought I found was just a corroded Zincoln sigh.........
That bottle dump we went to looks like a fun place to visit again (Without our--UnTrusty Escort--) The guy just gave me an uneasy feeling..........Lots of nice early 1900's bottles and porcelain too....Maybe if we dug a little ,,we could find some older coke bottles and such......
Congrats on your 1st silver of '09'..........This weekend looks promising as well..
