I found a silver platter at a thrift store today. Is this even silver? Does anyone know the hallmarks? I see the Lion Rampant, there is a star in the center. Any help is appreciated. Thanks! - Jonathan

CAN YOU GET A MORE CLEAR AN CLOSER PIC? I have a silver an plated hallmark book but can't see the icons to look them up...
Your gonna need it because it's not listed anywhere on
Online Encyclopedia of Silver Marks, Hallmarks & Makers' Marks

BTW- Click on the photo 3 times, it'll enlarge for you. This one has me stumped. It's unlike anything i've ever seen. Lion Rampant is set in a strange way. Not Scottish from the looks of it. Maybe some pseudo mark, I don't know. Can't find it online and can't get to my books. Spare room is packed with garage sale boxes for this weekends sale.

I took it to the local pawn and had them test it. It was silver plated. Question answered. No jackpot score this weekend! Maybe it was some knock-off markings?

Yep, probably fake hallmarks to make it look like sterling instead of plate.

I figured it was plated from the look of the lion. I couldn't find an exact match on either of the other two marks.
