I bought all these off a retired ex-CRHer the other day for $30/oz.
66 silver quarters
78 dimes
7 Morgans
3 Peace

Really increased my collection.. I didn't think a dollar over spot was to bad.. How do you think I did?

Morgans-
1881 s
1881 o
1896
1899 o
1903
2x1921

I checked em all with a magnet.. and from the collection this guy had I doubt they are Chinese:icon_thumright:

I've said it once, and I will say it again. It isn't how we think you did, it is how you think you did. It is your money, and if you are happy with the deal then you did good. If you are looking for us to validate your purchase, then maybe you aren't that comfortable with the deal and you didn't do so well.

I Think you did pretty well for coin silver in books. Coins also carry numismatic value which adds to the silver value imho. If your goal is to stack silver for scrap, you probably should look to making future purchases at or under melt. If your goal is coin collecting I think you got a good deal, I would have bought them if they were available to me.

You paid a little more then i would have but not buy much, regardless, nice coins!!!!

I might just be new to this, but if those coins are 90% silver, do you also weigh the 10% other metals into the price. Or do you subtract that and consider the rest .999?

if the coin is .900 then you take spot, and multiply by .9. This is how much coin silver is per Oz. you then multiply that number by what ever weight you have, and any limits you've set. Some people don't buy over 85-90% of silver contents value.

You did great, especially on the Morgans. My local place starts @ $22 on Morgans, but at the monthly show they are paying $27.

That is a deal I would jump on if I had the extra cash! Great find, especially on the Morgan's!

Wilmingtonsilver you're definitely right at the heart of the matter, it's all about how you feel when you spend your money, and your own personal perception of how you think your investment will do in the future (since none of us really know if silver will go up or down). but at the same time, it's fun to share finds with people and validate that you got a good deal, really that's what this entire website is about!

An LCS was selling a 1/10 oz. gold coin for $400, and common Morgans for $45.
