Hi! I am new to the hobby and decided to take my Lone Star out to a local beach. I ran some field tests (gold ring, quarter, dime, penny, aluminum can) at home (on grass surface) and tried to use the same settings at the beach to no avail. What settings (sensitivity & disc/notch) would one recommend for a New Jersey beach which appears to be highly mineralized? Thanks for your help.

Because of the salt concentrations and black sand mixed in varying amounts at saltwater beaches it is very difficult to use single frequency detectors on the wet sand. Mostly you can lower sens till you can search without falsing but you will greatly reduce depth. You might be able to use it on the dry sand.
