My guess is that the BU's are just that.
Most if not all of the silver content JFK's have very slight wear. Remember JFK's were rushed into production only ran the first year at 90%. For the next 5 years @ 40% and those were the only coins being produced that had had any silver content in them.
They were a novelty right off the bat. I would imagine that a large chunk of them were taken out by folks back then and squirreled away between 1965 & 1970. just like the stupid state quarters and Pres. $ are being taken out of circulation today. Just to be spent like regular money or dumped by Widows or inheritors, or thieves.
My older brother ( a coin collector from the 60's ) told me that back in the mid 60's he bought rolls and rolls of half dollars and packed them away for years knowing they were the last silver coins produced. But as time passed he sold them off when he needed money. I think a lot of small hoards hit the banks today as guys like my brother die off and family members don't know what there worth. I fond a couple of full rolls of 40%'s and even 64 JFK's like that in hand rolls over the last 3 years. My brother is 65 now and he was in his 20's in the mid 60's. Coin horders from that time may have died off, or, are dying off every day, and for years to come. So expect to keep finding these type of coins for years untill you die I guess.
I haven't found many unc. Franklin's (except 63's) or Walking Liberty's as those were circulated heavily I would imagine. They were considerd normal.
No surprise or mystry to me why you got unc. 67's
