Dear friends,

Any help on an ID for this unusual part? It was buried deep.

That's one unusual piece! If I had to guess, I'd say it is a bolt on an engine or something like that where it had to reach deep thru liquid to get a purchase. The flattened bottom of the head makes me think it was a plug seat to hold the liquid inside.

That type bolt usually held the wooden handle on a crank of some type. The two flats on the head were for tightening with a wrench
