🔎 UNIDENTIFIED Can't decipher ornate initials on brass item

This piece of brass was found on a site rich in artifacts dating from late 1700s through early 1900s. I have found an almost smooth KG II or III halfpenny there which has the rather crude initials "I B" stamped into it, probably by hand using a small tool. The homestead was likely first established by one of several possible retired United Empire Loyalist military men around 1783. There are historical records of several who settled in the area but not at specific sites. The initials on the halfpenny seem to be a clue to the name of the first homeowners. They fit the son of one family in the record. This clue is unique among the 14 or so Loyalist homesites I have surveyed for artifacts.
The engraved fancy initials on the brass item might be another clue if they could be read. That's why I am appealing to my knowledgeable metal detecting colleagues for help.
There are 2 photos of the top and one of the back of the engraved part of the item. The item itself is an oddly-shaped piece of copper alloy of some unknown purpose.

The first pic is simply a script letter H with an extra swirly ending.

Thanks TP. I can now see the H in the first photo. I couldn't tell what was "up" before. With the H identified, I notice that all the curves of the graver are right to left, except the transition at the top of the top right of the H. I'm not sure that is meaningful. It makes me wonder whether the whole thing is just an H with a fancy ending.
