I went to see an old friend yesterday he`s collected things for years, and used to be an auctioneer.
This brass canister was left in a box 20 years ago,and weeks later told it might be a Rev. War "tinder box" and years later told it might be a Civil War Officer`s "candle lamp"
Neither seen to work for me !
He`s been trying to find out what this is for a very long time.
Nothing is threaded !
Both Caps have a (B in a circle) trade mark, and engraved with FF Reed this might be his name .
This is a picture of a picture .
Cyl. 5 1/4" x 2"
Center 2 1/4" x 2"
Caps 1" 3/8" x2"
Center piece twists to open hole to veering degrees.
Caps looks to have had some type of grease on them....maybe to fend off dampness ?
