Nice!!! Congrats!!!Found this today while out detecting a late 1800s homesite. First thought was a bale seal, then I did some research on those and don’t think it is one now. Any ideas? It’s about 1” wide
Shakakka your item is a cloak clasp. Sew through holes and a hook and it’s the right size. Most cloak clasps had button shanks braised on but some had simple sew through holes as yours does.I found this a few years back, and it had a patent number on it. Turns out it was a picture hanger. It reminds me of yours, only yours doesn't have nail-holes to fix it to the wall (from what I can see, anyway):
