Hey everyone, Have not been posting anything for the last couple years due to sciatic/MAJOR back pain. It's been a complete nightmare that seems to get worse by the day...have not swung a detector in at least 2 years:BangHead: Anyway, enough about my health:unhappysmiley: I am actually posting a cool little artifact that my brother dug. At first I thought it may have been some kind of door knocker....way too small!! It does not have any attachment areas on it...so I am thinking it is some kind of figural whimsy/keepsake brass open end wrench for retirement??? Don't know what else to make of it. Any help on Identification would be great. Thanks guys...Chris

Were bottle openers made out of brass? I am not convinced that it's a bottle opener, but other than being very neat, I have no idea what it is. It almost looks fraternal in nature.

my first impression was either a door knocker or a drawer pull.... but it doesn't appear to have been attached to anything.... interesting piece!

That is a very cool find. I have spent a while searching but no luck (yet). For some reason it looks very familiar.
It is obviously designed to perform a wrench function and is not just decorative, nor a bottle opener.
The ring suggests it was meant to be carried around, so maybe on a fob or a chatelaine, indicating an everyday use.
Some thoughts are: for winding a clock or adjusting a musical instrument ??

I hope your back problems get resolved soon.

Cheers, Mike

Not sure what that is.
Weird and cool at the same time.

Thank you for taking the time to post a picture of a very similar item triki:thumbsup: I had some thoughts of it possibly being some kind of wind up piece for some kind of device also:occasion14: Thanks again everyone for trying to assist me on this unusual piece...Chris

My first thought was part of a decorative rein holder but I don't think it's big enough for that. Pretty neat. Good luck.

Reminds me of the wrench guys keep on a ring for cutting rigs. To open and close the bottles. Looks older that that, but an example of the function/idea of my thought.

I know exactly what you mean, acetylene and oxy type rigs, but this item is way too small.

My newest thought is, maybe a bicycle wheel, spoke adjustment, wrench/spanner.

This looks great whatever it is.

Could be a "let-me-give-you-a-hand" tool...

Long shot here, but could it be a loom wrench? Something solid enough to be utilitarian, but decorative enough for a classy gal to hang nearby for easy access/use? Just guessing! Yakker

Are there any dimples or tiny holes where the arm could pivot, as a drawer pull ?
