Hello, My name is Bobby Derusseau and I live in Pace, Florida in the USA. Many years ago I bought something that I thought was unique, but did not know what it was. I am hopeful that someone will be able to identify it. It is some kind of communication devise. The box is made of wood and it has a leather handle on top. Siemens is stamped on the receiver. There are three connectors underneath the receiver, that look like wires would have been wrapped on them at one time. I opened the box and the only thing inside was an old battery and some wires. It looks to be very old. I will attach some pictures of it and the battery. If someone

We had phones like that that were used in the 30s,40s, for communication between substations on a main transmission line. If I remember correctly, they somehow used the power lines. At least that one looks similar.

It could be a R/R track phone.
I used them in the 70's even while on the tack gangs.
Had a long pole that hooked the communication wire, then I hooked the other ends to the box.
This was to call in to the head office in Vancouver for sending/receiving information regarding the gang schedule.

First cell phone before the bag phone?

Seriously, I don't know anything about the phone but it is extremely interesting and looks to be in great shape. Thanks for showing it.

It looks like a lineman's phone. You would crawl up the pole and hook it to the phone lines using the three connections at the base of the box. The line man could then make and receive calls testing the telephone lines.

With the Siemens name and what looks like an early German made battery I'd guess maybe a German WW1 Trench Phone or later WW2 German field phone brought home by a soldier.
