🔎 UNIDENTIFIED Brass gear with threads

What is it? It has right hand fine threads inside and 10 teeth. About a 1/2” hole in the gear end. It’s not pipe threads inside.

I don't think IT'S a gear. Looks like a sprocket for square link chain.

being brass it wasn't meant for heavy work so maybe a coffee grinder or grain mill part.

I think you are right, the wear pattern doesn’t look like it ran against a gear.

Many years ago, riding lawn mowers used a simple forward, neutral, reverse transmission, that was chain driven. That looks like the drive sprocket from the transmission .
