Hey found this piece at a house built 1885, but don't know what it is, any ideas on what it is and approximate age would be much appreciated, thanks!

Don't know the size or weight of the square piece, though it sure looks like the base of fireplace tool holder.

The double ended blue arrows point to the first likenesses that made me think buckle. The green circle is where I think an emblem may have been affixed. What does the lettering say that I have circled in yellow?

Wow thanks Ant I think you got it! Sorry it won't let me look at the links tho, but one inscription says "GLORAY" and the second "LB.Cc."

Yes I have researched it and GLORAY was indeed a maker of belts back in the day, thanks!
