Since it has 2 links for a connection, it was probably part of a Victorian chatelaine. Some chatelaines had single attachments and some had double.

Its an old horse harness buckle, in the 50-100 year old range (maybe a bit earlier)

The UKFD dates finds from Paleolithic-Neolithic right up to the Victorian/Edwardian Period, which is more relavent/usefull to US finds.

This find is under Sword-Belt and Scabard Fittings, and is known as a Hooked Oval Mount, and is Dated to the 17th Century or 1600's. These fittings come in different shapes/designs some are decorated, this one how ever is a bit special because it has a trefoil-shaped copper-alloy fitting suspended from the hook, so is known as a Hooked Mount with Pendant Fitting ...a very nice early find for your side of the pond.:icon_thumright:
