Drove by one of my old sites today and noticed the city ran a new water main across the lower half of the property.
Had to make a U-turn and see if anything might have been brought to the surface.
Didn't find anything real old, but I did dig my first Dog Tax Tag from the city I was born in. circa 1918.
Wasn't having much luck, and I got a call from a friend inviting me to come over to a new construction site where they had been digging a few large brass spikes. So I decided to pack up and head their way.
Got to the site and my buddy showed me one area the dozer cut real deep, and he said try here.
I ended up digging a partial spike tip and then 2 more with the head embedded in wood, but missing the tip.
I can see the other end protruding from the wood, but the one he dug was a little longer than mine, so I think the 2 in wood are missing the tip.
We couldn't find much else in this area, but since it is not far from the beach, it does have me scratching my head a little.
Also ended up digging a little sterling duck from this site.
