Weird .. Nether brass or copper have much "spring" to them.

Don’t disagree. Would have assumed it came from a hay rake (or something similar)….if it was steel

In looking at it closer, it looks to be tubular.

Very well could be right…..not in my possession at the moment. Left it at the site. Can go back in next few days, if it’s tubing, question is answered.
