✅ SOLVED Brass Star Badge ?

Found this near a ghost town that was most active in the 1860's. However, there has been some activity in the area up to present. Don't know if it's old, military, a toy, decorative piece or even if its a badge. In other words I'm clueless! :icon_scratch: It's hard to tell by the picture put it is a bit concave. Diameter is approximately 1 1/8 inches.

I might note,it is interesting that yours still retains a bit of "gold Gilt",(I dont know that its gold or not)as I have noted several with a silver gilt,but very few

They also, I believe, had a disk that was attached to a sheet brass buckle that looked like yours.
I'm going to withdraw the above as I believe what I saw was just the star itself. Sorry.
