So, I decided to crush some quartz I have been collecting from the creek area and backyard. This one piece has me scratching my head. I know it is quartz but the bottom is what has me baffled. The color is a green/purplish color and it sparkles from every angle. When I was crushing this it was some of the hardest stuff I have ever came across. Breaking it down with a hammer took some time and when I went to crush it well, it was a challenge and the green/purple color would not crush or really do anything.
Although it seems tough to me it can be removed from the quartz with a little work from a screwdriver.
So, after a few days trying to research this I will post some pictures for help. Thanks for any ideas regarding the minerals or composite this may be.

Do a hardness and streak test.

It is soft and can be scratched with a knife. I tried to crush some of it and the quartz crushed but the other did not.
I will do a streak test tonight. Thanks for the response
