4-12-11 Hell o , Overcast and raining on Tuesday brought me to the old bridge . I have not searched this area in quite awhile . Always , with the owners permission , I was able to give it another go . Holey Toledo , a Ohio watch fob in SJ dirt , has anyone ever heard of a Yost Falcon # 10 from Toledo ??? . The iron relics are popping up all over ... the usual stuff so disc. most of the small hits out , sprayed a can of " Deep Woods Off " , and was able to recover some decent keepers . Navy anchor button ... Canal de Vieux , the back is corroded but intact . Pewter spoon , some sort of pin or medal ... smiling sun :icon_sunny: & stars over a ship ...see pic . Cattle lead ear tags were a welcome find . This is rough area :P and a few clad coins and some lightning action brought this search to an end . Next trip I am jumping off the bridge and seeing what is in the creek . I call this one , Sheets Creek ::) Two unknown large coppers that I gave up on cleaning :icon_scratch: old , but toasted beyond recognition . Shards , an intact whiskey bottle and a post colonial stoner medallion were also found . Buttons abound and I found the Off works well and repels small reptiles . Have some fun hunts gang , winter is over :hello2: ThANks for stopping in , HH CMDawg 8)

Nice digs Dawg. It must be too "ticky & snaky" to return to the mill now but the Bridge is producing as well. HH, Quindy.
Thanks Quindy , the mill is down the same road as the bridge off the main stage coach road . I always search these wagon trails , what is left of them . Ticks and snakes are a problem but I am implementing plan B , dawg

Great idea to search the old bridge! :icon_thumright:

Dave
Hi Dave , the trail to the creek has provided a few iron relics and other finds . Without ? a very interesting place to search. Not many of these old crossings remain in my area . I wanted you all to see this one before mother nature reclaims it . Thanks for your interest , CMD

Thanks for your response CMD. I have a similar bridge setting where I live. It's off the main road and about 50' in the bush and probably dates to the 1890 - 1910 era.

Can you tell me . . . did you made your finds on the road or on the road shoulders leading up to the bridge or along the sides of the structure itself? :icon_scratch:

Thanks,
Dave
Has there ever been a bridge site hunt on T net ??? I hope this is a first :D to answer your question ...all three have the potential for lost items , use your judgment and random finds will lead to groups of hits where travelers congregated , old days rest area , looks like clearings in the bush . HH dawg

Wow Dawg another Killer post ! I would love to hunt down there sometime except for the Snakes , and the bugs, and the heat . :laughing7: Seriously . your sites have the age and you definetly had a higher population density than any site I have hunted . It Has been amazing the finds coming out of Jersey this year ! And you certainly have been finding your share ! Thanks for posting and showing us those awesome relics. M.R.
You would be fine down here and there are a few sites to enjoy Jersey will never come close to the southern area for CW but we have some history and the highest property tax in the country :P Thanks, MR get an RV and get on the road someday . dawg

the lead disk with the CP initials is quite early.i found one here in south jersey several years ago at a colonial site, also foud a smaller version of it.
Thanks pigeonman , Some of these leads could be bale seals , pre branding of cattle ear tags were similiar , hard to tell apart . Salem has tons of history ..nice place to visit .

I've been up a creek similar to Sheets Creek many times. Usually without a paddle.
We all have been there my friend ;D I think our beloved USA is drifting out there today :-\ Thanks old coon

Bring a raft and a paddle , it could get deep :laughing9: dawg

Thanks for the info CMD. :icon_thumright: Here are some pics of the bridge that I'm going to hunt today. I also noticed the remains of old wooden supports underneath the bridge, a good sign that there's been a bridge here for a long time. I'll let you know what I find if anything! :laughing7:

Great bridge , a larger and newer one than the bridge here in Jersey but there should be some good targets . I would start with the creek banks and work my way up to the road on both sides. Then the dirt trail and look for places where wagons were stuck or possible campsite rest areas and let us know how you do . Att: members , any other ideas for old bridge searches . Best of luck Dave  CMD

Thanks for the helpful advice CMD. I went to my bridge site earlier this morning and this is what I found . . . As you had mentioned I started with the creek banks and worked my way up to the road on both sides. I then followed the dirt trails looking for places where wagons might have gotten stuck or for possible campsites and rest areas. The area has seen quite a few floods in the past 100+ years and I think that's why the good targets were so scarce.
But, hey it was a day out in the sunshine! ;D

Thanks again buddy :icon_thumright:,
Dave

::) your bridge of sighs is worst than my bridge , nothing to jump about but still your out there doing what you like to do . The cap says lucky :icon_scratch: :laughing7: , thats like a kick in the a$$ :laughing9: I bet if you keep hitting it you will eventually find stuff. I am not sure what happens when it floods at these places :dontknow: interesting challenge and creeks beds could hold some coins . Best to you Dave  CMDdawg
