During the last couple of months my regular bank where I deposit my searched halves at, the main teller tod me that the Brinks employee asked her where all the halves were comming from. She said that a customer brings them in and the Brinks employee must have said something more to her although she wouldn't say any more. When I went back to my bank a few days later one of the other tellers made the comment that the main teller tried to stick up for me when the Brinks employee was questioning her. The head teller at this bank has told me that she doesn't care how many halves I bring in,it doesn't bother her. But obviously it bothers Brinks! My mom and I have a good banking relationship with this bank and the tellers know us well. We bring all the bank employees special treats on the holidays. They always talk to us and even ask if they can give us a hug, when we have brought them something.
I have two banks that I regularly buy boxes of halves from, usually 4 boxes per bank each week. Two weeks ago one of the tellers that went to the vault to get the boxes came back and said we just had an audit done and we need you name and telephone number. I questioned him, about an audit and said what does that have to do with me and why do you need my telephone number. His first response was he only does what he's told. Then he said something about if I were to receive a box that had opened halves and were short that I could not come back to the bank and they would not be responsible about it. I said I've already had boxes with rolls that were open, some were short and I've never said anything to the bank. So I gave him my name and telephone number and I said well if your checking if I have an account here it's in my mother's name. He said no that's not why I need it. I didn't really know what to think that day and when I left I'm know he could tell that I was not happy with what he did.
I just went back to this bank yesterday to pick up the boxes of halves and they would only sell me 2 boxes and the head teller said only two everyone will get some rolls this way. The same head teller told me several months ago that there is a man that also orders boxes of halves at this bank but he didn't mind ordering them for both of us. Also several months ago the bank was much more freindlier.
Today I called the other bank that I was ordering boxes from, but haven't ordered any for about one month. I took a break from ordering from this bank because I wasn't finding anything in the boxes. When I started getting them at this bank they were filled with silver. When I spoke with the head teller and asked if she would order three boxes she said three? How about two and I said oh do I need to order them in even amounts? She said no the last time the Brinks man delivered the boxes he mentinoned something about charging next time. I said, Oh! She said they know it's mainly people looking thru the halves and then dumping them. But she said she would try to ordered two boxes for me. So I thanked her.
So basically I'm just trying to say that Brinks really, really has a problem with people ordering the boxes to search and then turning the halves back in. They are giving the banks some "attitude" and even questioning them when all they really should be doing is their job picking up or delivering coins. Why should they care how many halves we look at,it's their job why don't they just do it and remain quiet.
I guess I will have to come up with a different strategy with ordering from more banks and maybe only one box at a time.
