Hello,

Looking for help identifying a bunch of British ( I think) buttons. I will start by just posting this one:

It is regular coat size
Backmark is * G Preston L * Birmingham

Can anyone tell me what period it is from and ID exactly what kind of uniform it went on?

Im having issues finding resources to ID a lot of these buttons I got...Im thinking most of them are British, but I really dont know.

British General Service. Not sure of age... maybe WW2.

Ooops...button boy beat me to it, I believe the general ranks wore it from 1871 onwards.

According to the following well-respected website on British military buttons, your specific version of British Army "general service" button dates from 1902 to 1952. Militarynamedregs
