I have found some sort of jewelry. What I believe to be a pin or broach. On the front it is inscribed with the initial "B". Centrally located on the back is a single solder connection. Likewise, on the back is what I believe to be remnants of silver plate. I use the term silver plate but unlike any that I have seen it appears to be "flaky" not electroplated. In the photo it appears brownish in color but that is due to the lighting.

The field where it was found(dug) is a farm site that dates back to the early 1800's and has been used up until 2012.

I'm hoping that someone can share some information on not just what it is but also a time period of use.

Thanks for your time,
Groundhogg

I would guess it is part of a cufflink.
