broke the 1900's barrier... 1806 Spanish silver 8 real King Charles IV

I still can't believe it.
Found these gems on Monday at a farm that belongs to my uncle. My mom and my three unckes grew up on this property. Before that, the property is on a plat map dating 1896. Before that who knows.
I couldn't believe it after researching it. I'm afraid to clean the good one. Any more info (other than wiki) on the Spanish coin would be great.
Anyway, they are:
1) Spanish 8 real coin of King Charles IV of Spain 18xx...can't tell. Wiki shows one that looks just like it as 1806. Could there be another date?
2) 1955d dime
3) 1942p nickel
4) a Hubley cast iron toy tractor of one of my uncle's.

Any one have any ideas on where to find back wheels for my upcoming restoration project? I've found a website to get the silver man that goes on it but no luck on the wheels yet.

Nice digs thanks for the pics

Yes there are other dates. Here is mine I found about a month ago. It's a 1798.

Based on the size of the nickel (21.2 mm in diameter) I'd estimate your Spanish coin is not greater than 34 mm in diameter. As such, it would be a 4R coin probably minted in Mexico City. If the date begins 18XX then the possibilities are 1800 to 1808. The fineness of the silver is 0.896. The weight should be about 13 grams.

Broke the 1900's barrier? You SMASHED it!

Great find congrats!

-Lady Liberty is hot stuff...especially on a coin

congrats on the Spanish silver!, I hope one makes its way under my coil someday!

Congrats on all the silvers but that little tractor is pretty awesome. Hope you can get it restored. Will look great on a desk.

I don't believe it is even that large. The nickel photo was taken at a greater distance based on the width of the lines on the table. It is probably a one or two reale.

:occasion16::wav::occasion16: Big congrats on the old reale! 8 reale or 4 reale -- it's all good! :hello2:Love the tractor also. :hello2: Andi

Good pics. would help a lot. Esp. when your looking for help with an ID.
Even if you don't have macro, cropping first will help a lot, then post again.

looking at the lines of text on the paper, the nickel takes up about 4 of them. The Spanish coin also takes up about 4 lines, meaning it's about the same size. I would estimate it's a 1 Real coin based off of that. Congrats on some sweet spanish silver!

I really like that tractor.
The coins are pretty cool too.

The fastest way to determine this coin's denomination is to measure its diameter:
1/2R=18mm; 1R=20mm; 2R=28mm; 4R=34mm; and 8R=40mm. All denominations are 0.896 fine silver.

update.... my digital cal shows it at 16 mm. Does that still make it a 1/2 or did they make a 1/4 or some other make???

tim185,
Yes, Mexico made a 1/4R during the reign of C IV but the coin had a different design; a castle on one side and a lion rampant on the other.
The 1/4R had a diameter of 11 mm so that would rule that coin out for a second reason. I'll stick with the 1/2R attribution and assume the 2mm difference is caused primarily by wear.
Don.......
