I think it's a Victorian era urn style palatial vase. I think it's possibly bronze. I think it had a large (probably marble) base affixed to it at one time. It looks as if it's been pit in the weather. I think this would have had a match for a pair. Value? Hard to say without knowing what it originally looked like. That being said, all this and a couple of bucks will get you a cup of coffee.

Victorian era makes it seem valuable to me. But your last line makes me think you're saying it isn't worth squat. I'm confused.

It just means I'm no expert, just someone who likes old things. It looks like it's a 19th century Italian bronze vase to me that's all. It has condition issues, no pedestal (base) and the finish/patina doesn't look right. I think it may have been gilded at one time also, or at least some gilded trim. How tall is it anyway?

It's currently in my dad's possession so I'm not certain on height but approximately 24-30 inches, I would guess.
