We only had 1 cold rain shower today, but I'm very pleased to have completed the whole of this Site before the Beans sprouted.
2 hours 30 Mins.

I had;
3 Roman Bronze Coins
Iron Age Celtic Terret Ring
Top of 1st C AD Roman Fibula (Brooch)
Roman Hob-nail

My mate had 3 Roman coins & a important Roman Mount;

''Discussion: This mount belongs to a small group of mounts apprently associated with horse gear (Nicolay 2007, 388). Most notably, on the continent they are found in association with the famed Batavian horse auxilaries of the Roman army from the Rhine Delta (Nicolay 2007). The Batavians were also known to have been utlised in military operations in Brtain from the 1st century BC (under Julius Ceaser) until at least the 2nd century AD when a group are known to have been stationed at Vindolanda. A very small number of such mounts have been reported to the PAS: LANCUM-DB9B0C''

Brilliant finds Cru'! Can't wait to see your next post.

'REIP' is visible on one coin; part of 'SECVRITAS REI PVBLAICAE' (Service of the Republic)
If the image contains a wing--as it appears to be-- then the image is that of Victory.
Anything on the reverse (actually, anything on the obverse side)?
Perhaps something like this:

Valentinian I. Centenionalis. 367–375 AD
Keep swinging and posting !!

Our next options are limited in time & quality, they will be long shot chances, so unlikely to find much. We will need luck not judgement/research.

Fingers crossed. :) I'm curious as to how many square miles or kilometers you've covered in your detecting outings over the years.......any rough estimates? :) Those fields are daunting...
