I know absolutely nothing about buckles but it reminds me of the buckles I've seen represented on Pilgrim shoes.

I am familiar with the single loop buckles referenced, but those, I think, are generally flat stock frames. Yours doesn't appear to be flat, and the nibbins on the bar side appear to be altered. That is why I asked if it was broken or not.

Here's a closer view. Now I'm not rightly sure it has been broke.

IF it isn't broken, cut, or altered in any fashion, I would agree, too. However, I would like to see a side view of it before making that call.
