Possibly .25 Stevens, which would date it from 1900 on, but it was discontinued in the 1940's
?? I have a .25 Stevens from before 1900 by a long shot. I do think it is a .25 though not big enough and too long for .32 rimfire

.25 Stevens started development in 1898, and was officially released in 1900. I don't know offhand if there was an earlier .25 before Stevens released theirs though. What make and model rifle do you have?

Another possibility for this one is .30 Long Rimfire, but I think .25 is more likely without having a precise measurement.
