Just remember that during WW2 the US Military used predominately .45 caliber cartridges for sidearms.

Military transition to 9mm started in the late 1980s.

HOWEVER, 9mm was the issued German pistol cartridge!

Maybe, with a LOT of luck, you've got a fired round from a vet bring-back Luger.
