🔎 UNIDENTIFIED Buried wall

Hello, someone found this wall underground while digging, he called me to check if there are any buried metal objects, I guess that this wall is built with opus africanum technique which is related to the carthagian empire BC,the wall is about 3.5 meters high and beneath it there is an extra 1 meter mixed layer of charcoal and lime, after doing more research it appears that it is a wall of a room, underneath it contains a lot of broken jars pieces and rocks, even small glass pieces (very few), could anyone know if this just a regular ancient house or a temple or a burial tombe ?.

unfortunately, I havent took any photos of the broken pieces, because it was a usual thing while digging (honestly not for glass they were small dark blue pieces), but the next time i will take photos and publish them. But I can provide you with wider angle photo of the wall

Absolutely we will, thanks for the advice, just to let you know that behind the wall is full of dirt we found out that by simple digging and hammering a steel bar, but we were suspecting that there is another room or a door beneath the wall, because of the layer of charcoal and lime but there wasn't, it ended with normal dirt under it, we havent removed all the dirt from the room but we identified the walls borders from above.

I would not break the wall at all. Too risky for safety and it would be destroying an antiquity.
Dig around it. Dig beside it. Dig in the middle of it.

The wall appears to be leaning away from the person in the photo.
Is it?
Or is it just the perspective of the photo making it appear so?


3.5m seems pretty tall for a house.
What is the normal height of an ancient house in that region?

Maybe a fortification wall/tower?

Does it have a solid floor inside?

Weren't the Romans all over Tunisia?

thank you for your message, actually the wall is perfectly aligned, you can see it from a high angle attached to this reply, and I dont think that it is a buried tower, because on the same ground level there is another ancient roman or carthagian building partly fallen, the place we're searching in is a room under the ground level, the floor is not solid but contains a lot of rock and Brocken jars pieces and I also forgotten to mention that it contains animals bones( not sure which animal but head bone 10 maybe 15 centimeter length could be a dog or a big bird not sure ), considering the romans existing, historically they came after the fall of Carthage, after 146 BCE, Carthage was a Republic from 800 BCE that Ruled in Tunisia( the Capital), Algeria, Morocco, Spain and Portugal, and Sicilie and Sardinia

Looks like y'all have dug to the foundation stones of that wall.

Is that a vertical pillar stone on the right?
Does that indicate that you're already inside?

If you post pictures of bones we can help identify them.
Please take pictures with a ruler or tape measure so we can see the size of the skull.

Is it possible that you are inside the structure now, and that's the outside wall?

actually yes, it is, we are inside a room we have revealed the room borders from above the ground, currently we will remove the dirt from the full room to reach the other 2 walls, and the wall could be a separation between two rooms, we have a big suspicion that there is several rooms in the area, because the ground looks like flat hill on a surface of 20m * 30m

As a person interested in searching for metal objects, unfortunately I have not taken any photos of bones or either Broken jar pieces, next time I will if they could help more understanding the site, but some people says that burying animals and broken jars is a part of religious rituals, not sure how much that is correct.
