Not posted in awhile so thought I'd catch ya up on what's been up.After my granddad die last febuary the family split up his belongings.I got most of the furniture & some other items.Anyway the plan after that was they were going to let the fire department burn it.It's a two story home built in 1915.So once I heard this I thought I'd better look it over better & make sure there was nothing I thought was cool or could be used before it got the match thrown to it.Well below is what I came away with (besides $2400 scap metal) . 2009-2 1/2 ton heat & air all in one unit as a back up for one of mine seems how our home takes two one for up stairs & one down. Explain the old barrel, it has been in the attic since the home was built cause the hole to the attic was to small to get it back through. :D Also spent a few minutes one afternoon Mding around in the yard which needs to be gone over better(these finds were the coins, woodmen of the world token in bad shape, ring 14K looks early, etc). The bottles came from under the house one is cool as it's a straight sided coke from the early 1900's.
Here's the left overs....
Some sites on the lights the one english fixture looks alot like the biggest one I have....but not quite so I'm not sure yet what it might be worth. But what ever it is worth is more then it would have been burnt for sure.

You did a wonderful thing by saving those treasures from an ill fate. I don't understand how anyone could even think of simply cremating so many memories. I would have done the same, for sure! How about the door hardware and other fixtures? If there are any glass door knobs, be sure to get those and any brass hardware, i.e. hinges, etc. You will always be happy you made these saves!!

i am an old house fanatic and love the recycling aspect you are doing with the old house and the many things you are saving from a terrible fate, 10 years ago we had a small old cottage that was built in the 1930s, my parents decided they wanted to live there, but sadly the cottage was in the way. They consulted builders to see what they could do to build around it, but modern day builders don't really care much about old buildings, and it would have costed thousands to fix it up to build around it, so sadly when i was around six it was tragically tore down to build our house in 2002. I even remember walking on the ruins of where the cottage used to stand after it was torn down. We saved the 1940s furniture witch we borrowed it to someone but they will never ever give them back due to other reasons. we also saved the cedar wall paneling, but the person who stored it gave it all away, now we only have 10 panels left in our possession, If i were older then, i would have not let them tear it down and would have convinced them to build or buy elsewhere because i like old building allot. But now i am in the process of convincing some family friends to keep there old cottage "just down the road from us," instead of tearing it down, but it's hard to convincing someone with there mind set on it, and even harder because i'm a teenager and there middle age adults.
