BTW I believe that most variety specialists do not consider minor die cracks important because they are just signs of die wear. Gouges and clashes are considered collectible varieties because they happen in a uniform fashion on a certain die. Die cracks are technically errors, and can fetch good premiums sometimes if they are very significant, or if the die is shattered. Very punny title.:headbang:

I happen to believe the same thing. Now days people buy the cracks with cute names and it's impossible to sell the major ones.

"Wounded Eagle" and "Speared Bison" both have cute names, but they are the real deal because they are die gouges. A simple crack is exceedingly common on modern coins, especially when they use certain dies to death.

On a different note, I never really understood why people liked the 22 no D, 45 walker no AW, 37-D 3 legged, 82 no FG and the new "3 1/2 legged" and "two feathers" buffalos. A guy polished the die a bit heavy one day, so what? The 22 is an oddity and I understand it the most of all the ones on the list, but all the rest are just kinda lame. Should excessive polishing really be considered a die variety?

my opinion is that we all want to be special-- what we drive, our lawn, the wife's legs, our trophy fish---- an endless list................................................
I don't ask why--- just hope there is a demand for what I throw at a wall & hope it sticks

it is the classic_____ mine is better than yours--- and if it keeps the interest in history, or coins, alive--- then that makes me BIGLY GOOD. plus I make a few bucks to help pay da bills. my pounds of silver coins are just fine until the value goes up---- no emotion involved, just lust for money____ New York ain't cheap

and with errors---- in 50 years there will be no quality specimens of today's coins left in circulation--- just the good ones we put in the care of a buyer---- basic supply & demand and proof that even the US government sometimes screws things up
