"...but i have a couple silver dollars i'll sell ya"

S the grocery store manager is dumping the contents of the coin machine "dirt box". Then he has the customer service girl give them to me for free because "they're from the dirt box and so they aren't counted."

By the way, my first ever silver from a coin machine. 😬

Wow awesome!!

The Ike is silver too??? I still havent found any silver ikes, found (3) type 2's, and countless type 3's but never silver or proofs.

HH

Ike is not silver unless it's an 'S'. Doesn't look like one... but the ASE is a very cool find!

Dang nice score

Sweet find! A good friend of mine once handed me a clad half dollar and a silver eagle and said "here I found these quarter things in the gutter; you can have them" and I explained the value and everything, my friend would not even accept face value for them. I guess you need to make friends with as many people as possible in this hobby because it will pay off lol

Ike isn't silver, I wonder though how much they've thrown in the trash from the dirt box...

Nice score!

Weigh the ASE and also try a magnet to it. When they are that gunked up, you should at least suspect that they might be counterfeit.

I hope it is legit, but if it is counterfeit, that's a unique find in itself. I found a counterfeit WLH in a bank box from Chase. It had very similar artificial "toning"

The poor grocerry store manager must of had an Ike-roll-esque concussion at one point in his life and never recovered. Good story right there dawg.

Cleaner up real nice. Weighs in at 31.54 grams.

Hey boss, explain to me this dirt box.... Or anyone that knows about how or what gets caught in them. Also do you have a relationship built with the store manager to check them often?

The box inside the machine that catches the "junk". Had it labeled "dirt box". As for a relationship, nope. First time ever in the store. However, let the relationship building begin as he normally dumps it in the trash aside from what he recognizes as money. Yesterday he said I picked the perfect time to walk in and ask so I'm guessing it should be able to work it out. Also surprised to see the machine charges almost 11%. Ouch!

Looks good. That's a pretty lady indeed.
I would have cleaned it also. To me, cleaned bullion like this looks much better that tarnished bullion.

However, for some reason, I can't stand looking at whizzed coins. I've found a couple and I've had some given to me as gifts. I know they are worth their market melt value, but to me it feels like they are worth less than slick circulated coin.

Exciting find indeed.
