wow it is nice, i would maybe late 1780s- early 1800s but i am not the button guy , i am sure some can help you figure better than i . really nice find

I agree with Nsdq's time-estimate. Button-collectors call that type of oversized 1-piece brass button (with decorative emblem) a "Dandy" button ...which were popular in fancy civilian clothing Fashion in the latter-1700s to very-early-1800s. Hence the origin of the phrase, "That's a Dandy" (referring to something of fancy quality).

Its Dandy period, but unusual for a dandy as it has curved back edges. Not seen this variant before.
