I traded these items for a metal detector a couple of years ago but have not found any info. on them yet. Anyone knowing exactly what they are and where they would have been used would be appreciated. From looking around on the net and the library I have only been able to find similar items but not exactly the same. My guess is the oval one is a cross belt plate of some kind? and the large round one is maybe a cartrige box plate? Not even sure if they are authentic. I was told they were dug from an area with civil war activity. Thanks for any info.

Top is a CW era Eagle button.

Next is a CW era Bridle Rosette

Third is a U.S. CW Belt Plate--with the attachments separated from the plate.

Thanks Buckleboy, do you know where I might be able to see similar ones on the net? Do you have any idea what they would be worth in this condition? I live in Canada and once found a war of 1812 British crossbelt plate which I almost gave to my uncle for scrap copper but decided to write in to W&E treasures magazine, very glad I did because I ended up selling it for $2000 dollars and a fisher 1280x metal detector.

Value is difficult--in part due to the fact that the attachment hooks are separated from the plate itself. I'd say *Ballpark* estimate of $125-$175 USD for the buckle...

The rosette I can't find any pricing info on, but it would sell as a part of a collection of other CW items.

The Eagle button is a relatively common find, but it is in excellent condition for being a "dug" example.

Just search these on Google.com to get an idea.

Study hard! You owe it to yourself to be able to identify the items you find. Fewer end up in the trash or scrap bins that way!

Regards,

Buckleboy
