That's a lot of buttons! Congrats!

I would say Curt, if you are finding that many flat buttons there the site is far from being cleaned out. My buddy Rick (NS) and I hit a site we pounded in May/June this year and along with some super button finds Rick pulled out a 1755 Spanish 2 reale, the only silver we ever got from this site. So you never know your 2 reale could still be at that site.

when I was a kid and hunted cellar holes in the 70s - we were coin hunters
we could care less about colonial buttons and we hit a few spots in Ma. that we pulled buttons
in quantity like this and would get fed up and move on - would kill for a few spots like that now

With all of them having intact loops makes for interesting ? Have many got designs on them?

Thanks everyone who posted...planning on going back next year..feel theres more there.....buttons dont have much for designs..maybe a few have a little around outside edge but that was it,last bunch i got seemed that way also..last time i was there found buttons in a small concentrated area, like clothes were just dumped in same area..this lot was about 50 feet away...and another small area..and these were all found across road from hole...old dirt road only used for logging now...and about a mile from tar road..so out there abit...theory i was pondering is maybe a spot clothes from people afflicted with smallpox were dumped here...early 1800s it was going through this area...just wouldnt believe they would have thrown away that many good buttons...just a thought
