I looked through a bunch of pics and couldn't find one exactly like this. I found it in an area that I typically find colonial stuff. It looks like some of the civil war buttons in some of the pics, has "extra" something stamped on back.

Looks like extra quality. That one might be 1870's period. I don't have my book handy at the moment.

I believe it's a 1854-1875 "Flat Line Shield" button.
