I found this a while back at a late 1800's school. It was found by a big oak tree where they had bulldozed the sidewalk up. I couldnt find any info on it but im sure you experts can tell me something about it. The back is pretty rusted so i cant tell if there is a backmark or not.

At one point about 3 months ago i saw a button on ebay kinda like mine with the 2 prongs on the back and they said it was a helmet button because of the prongs. So maybe its a Musicians helmet button? :icon_scratch: Wish there was a way to date it. Will hooking it up to electrolysis knock enough rust off to give a back mark without hurtin the button?

Somehow I missed this old post. Yes I think it was a musicians helmet/hat button. There was a button on each side. SodaBottleBoB can help you here.

I'm not sure, (the image is a little blurry), but the button on this band hat looks "similar." But it is obviously not larger than a quarter as indicated on GaYankee's original image above. :dontknow:
