Not sure if this button reads 27
Measures approximately 18 mm, maybe Regiment of foot , but not sure if this button has any connection ?

It's possible. There was a 27th regiment from Massachusetts.

I'll see what I can find in my reference books. The normal British 18th century pewter button had a big mound of pewter on the back called a "boss", an iron shank went into. Yours is not made this way.
