Found on a 1800's home site. I am thinking revolutionary war of 1812 but not sure.

It's an early Navy button. Can you make out any of the backmark? How many stars on it?

The backmark will be the key to dating this button more precisely but a date range from the late 1700s to the early 1800s is very likely.
