I posted this in today's finds but I thought I would try here as well. Its a small cuff size that was found a a 1700's home. Im not sure but I think its military of origin. It says United States of America around the rim and has a Fine Colur back mark. and Thanks for the help in advance.

Re: Button ID

I believe it is similar to one I found a few years ago, In Albert's book listed as a Patriotic button (not military) designated UU132A.
Have seen it and a few very similar posted over the years, mine is also cuff sized

Re: Button ID

Thought you'd want to know... your 1-piece brass button with raised-mark lettering for the backmark, which uses the British spelling "colour", dates it from 1815 into the 1830s.

Re: Button ID

Thanks for the info. I knew this was the place to go. I was told by another that is was used on militia uniforms but like many things we may never know. Thanks again.
