button? id

not sure if this is a button or not kinda strange shape
so any button id'ers out there that can give me some info as to age ect
also not sure what the metal is shows up as coin on my machine there are no markings

I think it was a button .. My grandmother had a coat with very similar looking buttons on it back in the mid 1950's. She also had one with gutta-percha buttons of the same design.

I agree it's a button. I would guess art nouveau.

I think it was a piece of silverware that attached to a larger piece, like a brooch (pin). It would have had foldered hook like attachments to hold it in place.

Somewhere in my boxes, might be a similar item, if I kept it. But I'm not looking for it now, I'm 90% sure that this is part of a larger decorative piece :thumbsup:

The piece is hollow. If attached to silverware why was the back on the piece needed?

To attach it to the piece, I have seen many holllow examples.

Ok I'll go with the silverware ID :icon_thumright: Would have thought the back piece silver could have been saved (not needed for attachment). Saved silver value insignificant or easier to make/or attach the rose. A button would probably also have some kind of marking.
