It's an early flat button. Late 1700's, I think.

I think I have dug more of these this year than any year before. They sure sound great! That's a nice one you got there.

I think sodabottlebob meant the link as a present for anyone who needs a button ID'd and not this one. That link is to an excellent site. I've known William and his dad for years. Both are very knowledgable about civil war relics and William probably knows more about buttons than any one person I know. He is also one of the fairest and honest people I know as well.

That was exactly my intent ... a Christmas Present!

I hunt for bottles, especially soda's, but have never found a Civil War type button. But there seems to be a lot of them being found. In fact, aside from coins, it might be the most popular topic on this website! TreasureNet should segregate a seperate thread just for buttons!
