Button Patch Strikes Again! 18 More Today. Including Civil War Eagle Button!

I’m starting to think I stumbled onto a button factory 😂

This was my third trip back to the site, and I dug another 18 buttons! One of them turned out to be a Civil War General Service button. It’s pretty rough shape, but you can still faintly make out the eagle and shield. That brings the grand total to 63 buttons from this spot so far.

Along with the buttons, I pulled a pewter utensil handle, a brass utensil handle musket balls, and a few other interesting bits and pieces.

This place just keeps giving.

When I used to find an area with buttons all over the place I often wondered if it was the site of a big fight between a couple of groups on the goldfields fighting over a claim tearing at each other's shirts and having a full on punch up. Sometimes it might have been I reckon.

I found buttons and coins in a yard once. I found out later there was an old clothes line there in the past.

It's crazy! I've found more buttons there in three trips than I have in years of detecting older sites. I wonder why theres so many? Was it normal to loose buttons that often? Im guessing the site was just occupied much longer than other places I've been.

I've had similar thoughts as well.Years ago, I found a union service button, a large cent as well as other buttons all within a 5 foot radius. Being located In the south at an old homesite. I imagined a union solder fighting it out with a homeowner.

Not sure, there is alot of broken brick and pottery shards n the soil. I assume it is an old homeite. I'm finding everything scatterred within a 50 yard radius with the occasional cluster of items. I'm sure there was a washing/ drying area.

I've found 12 buttons in a tiny area before, don't really know
