Found a button today with a star on the front and maybe a M or something in the star. Was located in an area where I have found union and confederate bullets and buttons. It is a two piece button and shank is missing. Please help.

That's a nice find but, it will take someone with more knowledge than me and/or has a good button book to ID. Way to go!:icon_thumleft:

Going b7y just the single photo of it, I do not recognize it as a civil war Military button. Need additional photos of its front, and also a well-focused closeup photo showing its back, and also a "sideview" photo of the button so we can see whether it is flat, or low-domed, or high-domed.

Cannonballguy my camera messed up. Its a two piece flat button with back toasted to the point of being unable to see anything.

doesn't appear to be civil war, it would help to see more pictures...

Update: button appears to have a flower on the inside of the star. Possibly a rose. Anyone seen this
