Hi, I have found that on an old home site, near 2 musket balls.. it looks like bronze on the top, and lead in the back.

Looks like an old carpet tack to me.

so apparently, it could be an old saddle tack.. 18th or beginning of 19th century.. (I have found 2 musket balls in the same area.. so that's possible..)
