The back is iron and can not read, Thanks for reply
The back would not be iron on that button. It was resting against some iron in the dirt. It is similar to this Benedict & Burnham button which dates 1834 -1843.

How can I get the lettering on back of button readable. I soaked it in apple cider vinegar and now the lettering can be seen but not enough to read. Thanks for your reply

We have 2 of these buttons found at the same site. I will work on them again. My husband has found a lot of button's but none like these two.

Is it upside down?
The bottom is a thristle button. The back looks like iron rust. It's not iron. It was laying next to iron in the ground. This winter will work in all these buttons. Love these buttons
