Afterwork I cruised down a main road, stopping at banks to buy half dollars. I bought $400 in CWR, all shunk. I also got about $30 in loose halves and found five 40%ers (1967x2, 1968Dx2, 1969D).
I went to my favorite dump bank where they have a coin counter in the lobby (no charge if you have an account). A woman was using the coin counter, putting some change in the machine, then she pulls out a mint set and is trying to open it to put the coins in the counter. I stood there staring in disbelief, she turns to me and asks, "Do you have a knife or a scissors." It was a 1992 D mint set still in the cello wrapper. I offered her $1 for it and she was happy to get rid of it. I asked her if she had the P set or any other coins she wanted to get rid off but she said no.
We CRHers are always saying that we think people take coin collections to banks to cash them in for face value. And that this is the fuel for our continued finds. Today I saw for myself that it actually happens!!
