To clarify a bit, I'm actually referring to the "Loss and Damage Waiver" that rental car companies try to sell you, but it's really not needed because your own vehicle insurance as well as the credit card you paid with typically covers your car rental. This is widely known as one of the biggest scams today.

So here's a hypothetical situation. Let's say you have a beef (a big beef) with a rental car company about some overcharges that you know are wrong, but your stuck with paying them anyway. In your frustration, would you rent yet another vehicle from them, buy their insurance, and then purposely damage the vehicle?

Then you are punishing the car insurance company for the wrong of the car rental company ? :icon_scratch:

Never looked at it like that. Do they even have car insurance on their vehicles?(probably at least liability) I mean, isn't the 'insurance' that they sell funded by themselves? I mean, lets say at $15 a day for rental insurance times 30 day (1 month). That's $450 a month. Does Geico (for example) charge anyone $450 a month for insurance? Even if geico did have to pay for damages to a vehicle, they'd still make a profit.

Also, FWIW, insurance companies don't loose money on anything. They just make 'less profit'. But I guess that could be said about any business.

Perhaps I'm in the wrong business.
