hey guys, i posted in the general discussion as well but, i think i did well. i met with the guy tonight and got it for 625, after testing the coils and everything i was all set. thanks again steve

So John what would be your testing method of a used Infinium in a store that knows very little about them? What would your steps be, is there a recommended layout of the coil cable itself prior to turning the unit on. Thanks.

Test it outside, away you would any other detector. Keep in mind it is sensitive to EMI, although some of it can be tunes out picking a good operating frequency. Try using gold rings, silver rings, mini balls etc. to see how it sounds. Notice that large targets maintain a longer audio sound compared to small coin sized objects. Bobby pins and nails give a double bleep. Below is a link to some Garrett videos using the Infinium.
