By - Golly Let's Get a Little Colonial Then..Update Trade Ring

Went down the river today to do a little hunting.Made myself stay a dig on one site in stead of running wild.Although I did not complete this site yet as there should be more there.I was happy with the results anyway.
Broken stone ax
Buttons pewter, tobac,& two that still has clothe on them
Piece of musket funiture
Musket shot / balls all sizes
Piece of strip mold
And the neatest little colonial ring I've seen.......had to be for a baby :icon_scratch:
Take Care,
Pete, :hello:

I'm not going to post any of mine on this forum for personal reasons but you can look through Bob's rings here.....
www.bobs-photogallery.com/

You'll find a whole section of trade rings with glass stones.
Sorry, I do not have the time to provide you with "proof" but I will guarantee that my assessment is bang on.
Cheers,
Dave.
Thanks for your thought's after looking in the fur trade section on the forum I did find some close 1600's -1700's this site has not gave up 1800's stuff so I will agree on them being from the period of this post here.

Good link. The exact match would be the second ring with a single blue stone posted by Rob in B.C.
I know the details of that find and it was found at an HBC post that dates from the early 1800's.
The rings Bob are referring to as 1600's or early 1700's are the Jesuit rings which are entirely different.
I have found your exact ring in blue, green, and clear at post sites that date from the late 1700's to early 1800's.
I am telling you this because I am not sure if you agree with the date I have given or still think the ring is much earlier.
Take the info which ever way you want. I'm just telling what I know.
Regards,
Dave.
Nope you seem to know so I'm good with it.Thanks for your great Info & help either way I like it & is not so common here.Only problem I have is who it was traded to if the indians where all gone by early 1800's :dontknow: :icon_scratch:
Take Care,
Pete, :hello:

The best guess I could give is that your site was a good camping place and maybe a different tribe of Indians were traveling through and stopped there? :dontknow:
I've been a fan of your posts and would imagine you would find a lot of unusual relics. The ring adds another interesting page in Timekiller's book. :icon_thumright:

Thanks RELICDUDE07,
Yea I'm still baffled a little about it myself,Main reasons are.......& I know they traded with the indians here Cause I've found beads & the contact period pendant at another site.
But when I look at the one on the UK site it's found around Leeds england, which just so happens to be where my token came from which is no doubt 1669,both found at the same site. :icon_scratch: Also if they are being found over there ...I know that's where they are made from, but why there, were they being traded there too? :dontknow: Or were they being lost, stolen, worn there too. :dontknow: Alot of I don't knows but seems funny in a way.Either way as stated above I like it-it's old enough for me :D And am very Thankful for the info from You,Muddyhands,Romeo1 & Cru.And all the rest who Replied.
Take Care,
Pete, :hello:

At the very least it gave me a reason to come up with another display. :laughing7: Made the indian out of plaster & then I painted him up.Now found a place for them all.

America has a lot of history to tell...Keep at the site & don't miss any beads ,some came from all around the world Africa - when they brought shipments of slaves to that area for the sugar plantations & China when spanish ships would stop on the way back from the trade routes in the 1500 & 1600s..Keep at it
